Capacity for growth
Nokian Tyres’ production plants are located in Finland and Russia. A new factory is being constructed in the US to enable a more diverse production. At the headquarters in Nokia, Finland, centralized product development is carried out and prototypes and test runs are completed. The Nokia factory manufactures car tires, heavy-duty tires, and retreading materials for truck tires.
Tires are delivered from our Russian factory to over 35 countries and Nokian Tyres is Russia’s largest exporter of consumer goods. Using shift arrangements, the annual capacity of the factories in Finland and Russia can be more than 20 million tires. Manufacturing in Russia represents a competitive advantage for Nokian Tyres. Tire production costs are considerably lower in Russia than in Finland and other western countries.
Approximately 70% of the production in Russia is exported. In 2018, approximately 84% of the company’s passenger car tires were manufactured in Russia.
Heavy Tyres increases production capacity by 50% in?Finland by investing altogether MEUR 70 in it's factory during 2018–2020. The goal is to increase the maximum production capacity of heavy tires from 20 million kilograms to 32 million kilograms.?
